Yes, in answer to a comment, Vera thinks she is a boy. I look into her hazel eyes all the time and say, "Vera, are you my sweet girl?" And she emphatically answers, "I a boy."
Lately, she has taken to telling her siblings "Bad girl." I have no idea where she got this particular phrase, but it is driving her brothers crazy. She is now convinced that she is the only boy in the family.
Vera also is sure that every day is HER birthday. She is willing, albeit grudgingly, to share her birthday with those of us who are actually having one, but she is not willing to concede the day entirely. This quirk only began after her birthday in February, so I'm not sure what will happen when her real birthday rolls around again. At least she doesn't expect gifts.
We occasionally try to convince Vera that she is not a boy having a birthday, but our time would be better spent trying to erode our stone house with a feather. Such is life with our sweet little girl.
