Blessings

Some days it hits me right out of the blue. Just now, as I am laying Ella down in my bed for her nap, I am reminded of the simple blessings in my life. My (reasonably) clean daughter is able to take a nap on clean sheets that surround a soft mattress, while wearing cute and clean clothes, after eating an ample lunch in our cooled home and playing with her more than ample siblings who think she is adorable. She sleeps every night in our bed, too, surrounded by a mommy and daddy who could and did go to some pretty serious trouble to bring her to this amazing country where she could take a nap in peace. We are not worried about dinner tonight, other than what we should have. In a few short months we will have cooler weather and we expect to clothe her in pants and sweaters and coats and boots and hats. When she is old enough to start homeschooling "for real" then she will have lots of supplies. When she is too old for school she will have lots of support, God willing the support of those same parents who embraced her each night.

I know this is life for most Americans, yet as I bring children home from places far afield, I am reminded again and again of the blessings we have, that we can take and nourish and support and love another child; that we have that option. Praise God that He let us exercise it.

Jill, reading this gives me the chills. Thank you for bringing these children home and giving them a life with love and security.
