Reposting--Vera: a trophy of God's grace

For Down syndrome awareness month, I am again using an old post, although this one was not originally in my 31 for 21 blogging from two years ago. I suppose the main awareness I am trying to raise in this post is our awareness of the fact that our kids with Down syndrome, or our kids with other differences and difficulties (whatever they may be), can be among our best teachers about faith and understanding who we are in God's family. God is efficient...He may have used John and me to pull Vera out of a potentially horrific situation, but He uses Vera to refine us...and refine us some more!
